Vintage Art Glass

It has been quite awhile since I have blogged in "pink".

A friend recently asked me what color of rose is my favorite.

I suppose it would have to be the color of the rose shown above.  (It is genetic from my mother's side)

It also has been awhile since I have shown anything from my glass collection.

This romantic sugar jar was made by the Consolidated Lamp and Glass Company of Pittsburgh, PA,   starting in 1894.

This pattern is known as " Florette " and is a pillow quilted satin glass.

This pattern was prevalent in biscuit and cracker jars as well.

How beautiful sugar crystals would look in such a vintage treasure.

I am happy to be joining Cindy's "Show and Tell Friday" over at her blog   "My Romantic Home".

A Little Bit of Heaven

It seems if we are open to them, rose petals from Heaven continually fall in all of our lives.  We just need to be aware of the "little things" and in the "stillness".

While I was in Hawaii on my "Spring Break", I came across this palm tree stump while walking to the ocean from our hotel room.

Again, I made my husband wait as I took a picture of a "tree stump".

I immediately saw a heart.  A heart that had seen a past of hurts and had the marks to  prove it.

This morning I found peace in creating this beautiful graphic for you.

Enjoy!

Sweeter than Jellybeans! ~ Free Blog Graphic

I knew I would be making more than one Easter design.  I have so many ideas in my head.

This one turned out whimsical and just as I had hoped.

I thought you could have fun with it by adding it to your side bar with titles like:

    "My followers are..."

    or

    "Blogging is..."

    Enjoy!

      Planting This Year's Lavender

On the way home from work on Friday, I stopped by the nursery to pick up this year's lavender.

I ended up planting it today.

My roses are finally budding again. *smile*

My little critters came out to see what was new.

I planted the lavender right next to my roses.

I figured my roses adore this spot, so too will the lavender.

I was fortunate to have beautiful weather.

I even put in the sprinkler system to the new plants!

I also pulled some weeds that had taken residence among my roses.

      The Coral Grotto

Wendesday, March 16th, we arrived in downtown Kona, Hawaii at about 5pm.  Just as the "Open Market" was closing.  (I was bummed)

So we walked on past the closing market to a sidewalk filled with plumeria flowers that had fallen from the trees above.

I had to find one to put into my hair!  As my husband stood there waiting, I went through almost every bloom to find the one that was least wilted.  I took a ridiculously long time to do this but it was Hawaii and no one cares what time it is.

So I finally found the one I thought best and stuck it in my hair and we walked on.

All of a sudden, I knew why I was brought here.  It was not for the open market at all.

As I looked across the street there stood the most beautiful sight I had seen on the island.

It was a coral grotto. I did not even know existed!

As I got closer to it, it became more beautiful.

It was " The Coral Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes ".

Of all the petals from Heaven during this week, this was the most fragrant one I was given.

Our Lady was draped in a handmade rosary made of seashells.

And St. Bernadette was kneeling draped in a lei.

The coral cross at the top of the grotto, took my breath away.

      As I looked at all the fragrant and beautiful tropical flowers laid at Her feet;

I felt like the "little drummer boy" with nothing beautiful to give to Her.

It was then I thought of the plumeria flower in my hair and how long I spent trying to pick out the most perfect one.

So I placed it on the coral and we left.

Not far from were we exited the grotto site, there was a rock wall along the sidewalk we were walking on.

I looked on the wall and there was a perfect plumeria flower placed with all petals on the wall and the stem part toward the heavens.

I knew it was a replacement for the one I had given Mary.  I looked up and thanked her.

      Island Blooms

During our visit to "The Big Island" of Hawaii, the lobby of the Prince Resort had several beautiful floral arrangements for me to study.

They were created by "The Flower Shop of Hapuna".

I thought I would also share this poem written by John Alexander Joyce in 1885.

" Yon island blooms within a vale

Where crystal waters kiss the flowers,

Round, rolling ridges bold and high,

And every sound that fills the gale

      Responds unto the golden hours.

The fragrant flowers of blooming may

Exhale their perfume to the sky

And give to all a perfect day. "

      Friday Freebie - Blog Graphic!

I began this design with the bassinette of roses; And it grew from there.

After I finished this design and was ready to post, I found this quote with the help of my Angel...

" When you're in love you never really know whether your elation comes from the qualities of the one you love, or if it attributes them to her; whether the light which surrounds her like a halo comes from you, from her, or from the meeting of your sparks. "

      Have a wonderful Friday.

Dance Among the Stars - Free Blog Graphic!

My latest design was inspired by my first night on "The Big Island" of Hawaii.

We were walking down a pathway at the Prince Resort in the evening toward our room.

It was a crystal clear night and I was looking up in the sky at all of the bright stars. (WoW!)

When all of a sudden this giant shooting star danced across the entire sky right above me.  It went from one end of the sky to the other.

It was surreal and magnificant.  I kept my eye on it and watched it as it went out like a candle on a birthday cake.  (Yes, I did make my wish *wink*)

Time slowed down for me at that moment and I felt it was a gift and I was grateful for being able to witness such a kiss from heaven.

        So, long story short...

        Enjoy!
